Antonio Santocono

President of the Chamber of Commerce of Padua

“For the Chamber of Commerce of Padua, tourism is one of the strategic assets for the development and enhancement of the territory. For this reason, we support the main cultural attractions of the city, such as the Museum of Nature and Man and the Botanical Garden Museum in particular, considered important drivers of economic and cultural growth. By enhancing the centuries-old history of the Garden and its unique wealth of naturalistic heritage and biodiversity, we contribute to making Padua a crossroads of science and culture, for the benefit of the territory and future generations.”

The project

The Botanical Museum

Inaugurated in February 2023, the Botanical Museum is the new exhibition center to discover the history of the Botanical Garden of the University of Padua, a UNESCO heritage site since 1997. Those who visit the Museum can delve into the rich archive of plant biodiversity kept in the Garden: a path full of interactive experiences, botany, and medicine, among herbaria from past centuries and an ancient apothecary.

Heritage

As part of the University’s “third mission” commitment to develop policies, projects, and actions that promote the transmission of knowledge with an impact on the territory and society, in 2023 the University opened the doors of two new museums: the Museum of Nature and Humankind and the Botanical Museum. Accessible and inclusive places, catalysts of initiatives for the dissemination and dissemination of scientific culture for the benefit of the community. Without the fundamental support of the numerous donors who believed in the value of these projects, all this would not have been possible.
