Fatima Rafiee

Scholarship beneficiary

“When the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, women lost the right to study and to live freely. If I had stayed, I would not have been able to continue my education—just like many of my friends. Thanks to the University of Padua and its donors, I was able to escape and pursue my passion. This scholarship is not just fi nancial support — it is hope, freedom, and a voice for those who no longer have one. I feel a responsibility to make the most of this opportunity and help build a world where no one must choose between their dreams and their safety. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making this possible.”

The project

Together for freedom of study and thought: donors who believe in the future

In 2024, the University of Padua was also able to award four additional scholarships for students from high-risk backgrounds, thanks to the generous support of private individuals, corporate donors, and service organizations, such as Dr. Mitzi Mariani and Eng. Enrico Rusconi, Lundbeck Pharmaceuticals Italy S.p.A. and Soroptimist Clubs of the Triveneto.
