Research to combat discrimination and gender violence: the UniRe project
The UniRe – Responsible University project represents a strong and structured commitment by the University of Padua to fight all forms of discrimination, harassment, and gender-basedviolence. Coordinated by Professor Alessandra Simonelli, the project adopts a multidisciplinary approach to address these complex and deeply rooted issues.
As part of its broad agenda, UniRe has launched a variety of impactful initiatives, including training programs, awareness raising campaigns, and the creation of a dedicated listening and support center. A key pillar of the project is its investment in academic research. UniRe has initiated the funding of research grants to explore gender violence through diverse lenses—economic, cultural, social, technological, and health related. This integrated approach ensures that the phenomenon is studied in its full complexity.
Thanks to the valuable support of prominent private donors and co-funding from the University, six research grants have been awarded to date. Crédit Agricole Italia S.p.A. has made it possible to activate a research grant for the UniRe project on the topic of “Role and use of new technologies in the identifi cation and interventions and services on gender violence”.
